New Geolandar All Terrain tyre

The drive day was the perfect showcase for the new Geolandar A/T-S which boasts self cleaning tread, silence tyre technology and ongoing high performance in traction, stability and safety both on and off-road.

"The customers have faith in my knowledge of tyres, I won't sell something to them if I don't believe it's the best of quality" said Cameron Smith of Smitty's Tyres & More Tamworth "I am so impressed by the performance and safety of the Geolandar A/T-S."

On road, the silica based tread compound offers superb grip in the wet but it also delivers improved tread mileage. For extra cabin comfort, the rigid tread blocks are arranged in 5 different sizes to promote even wear and significantly reduce tyre noise.

"It's obvious the two years of research and development that went into improving the Geolandar all terrain tyre have made this new model well worth the wait. Usually the harmonics of the large tread go streaming through the car, but this all terrain Yokohama product is so quiet it is nothing short of impressive" said Alan Bradshaw of Yokohama Tyre Australia.

Modern 4WDs and SUVs are luxurious, refined and have lower cabin noise than ever before. They tend to come factory-fitted with comfortable, low noise road going highway terrain tyres. However, if you want to extend the off-road capability of that 4WD half of that refinement can go out the window when you fit an all terrain tyre.

"You need the large tread to bite into the off road surfaces but as soon as you get back on the road that same large tread that was such a great feature off road becomes a problem on the road resulting in annoying sound dynamics and overbearing noise" said Adelaide's Fred Vella of the Fred Vella Tyre Service.

The new Geolandar is different. The "multi-step" tread blocks are part of the secret to Geolandar A/T-S's superb off-road traction. It helps clear mud and dirt to increase the tyre's biting edges for enhanced traction on loose off-road surfaces.

"That's the important thing with an off road tyre, they need to be able to clean themselves. It doesn't matter what brand of tyre you have, if they are caked full of mud they all end up with the same grip, and in the end that is very limited" explained Driving Instructor David Hardman.
Industry experts are extremely excited about Yokohama's new all terrain tyre which is now on sale at Tyres & More, Yokohama Network Dealers & Bob Jane T-Marts.
