The New Polo Keeps Sweeping the Board

The award is viewed as one of the most coveted trophies in the auto industry. The new Polo is among this year’s winners. It was voted second in the “automobile” category. A total of 34 cars competed for votes from the readers of ADAC Motorwelt.

The Polo enjoyed a very clear advantage in winning the favour of ADAC Motorwelt readers as well as visitors to the ADAC Internet portal and seized second place. The renowned prize was handed over at the Munich Residenz to Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Brand with responsibility for Development. On the guest list were Prof. Dr. Ferdinand K. Piëch, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, and Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, the Chariman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, alongside numerous other personalities from the realms of politics and industry.

The Polo has been capable of satisfying numerous panels of experts since its market launch in May 2009: Thus the successful super-mini reaped the much sought-after “Car of the Year” award; auto motor sport decorated it with the “Best Car of 2009”; the Polo got the “Green” and “Golden Steering Wheel” from Springer Verlag and was awarded the “Auto Trophy” prize by Autozeitung.
