Honda's Civic gets an upgrade for 2010

Following the introduction of Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) across the entire Honda Civic sedan range in February 2009, Honda Australia has now added curtain airbags as standard equipment on the entry model Civic VTi sedan with the introduction of the 2010 Year Model.

All 2010 Civic sedans are bristling with the latest safety technology, starting with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, ABS Brakes with EBD, active front head restraints, dual front, side and curtain airbags and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) as standard.

The inclusion of these features on all 2010 Civic models gives customers the highest levels of safety, regardless of which model they choose.

In addition, the 2010 Civic offers customers a greater colour choice with an expanded palette to include Dyno Blue and Habenero Red.

Dyno Blue is making its Australian debut, while Habenero Red was first seen with the introduction of the Honda City in February 2009.

Other upgrades include sporty ten-spoke 16 inch alloy wheels on the VTi-L model.

The Honda Civic remains one of Honda’s most successful vehicles in Australia, spanning three decades. The upgrades to the eighth-generation Civic will ensure its ongoing success in the competitive small car segment.

The eighth-generation Civic is also a multi-award winner in Australia. The Civic VTi was crowned ‘Best Mid Size Car under $28,000’ by Australia’s Best Cars (Australia’s major motoring clubs award) in 2006 and 2007 and also received Drive’s Car of the Year ‘Certificate of Excellence’ for Best Interior in 2006.

Commenting on the introduction of the 2010 Honda Civic sedan, Honda Australia’s Senior Director Mr. Lindsay Smalley said, “The eighth-generation Civic has been very successful for Honda since its launch. These enhancements make the Civic even more enticing while continuing its reputation of providing outstanding value.

“This latest Civic offers great appeal to existing Civic owners as well as buyers looking for a combination of style, features and substance in the small sedan market,” he added.

MAJOR UPGRADES

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) as standard on all models – (introduced Feb 2009)
Dual front, side and curtain airbags as standard on all models
Two new colours – Dyno Blue and Habenero Red
New ten-spoke alloy wheel design (VTi-L model only)
HONDA CIVIC’S ADVANCED SAFETY FEATURES
Every 2010 Year Model Civic is now equipped with dual front, side and full length curtain airbags for optimum occupant protection.

Honda’s sophisticated dual-stage, dual-threshold system optimises the airbag deployment to match the speed and severity of a crash. It also helps minimise injuries caused by airbags themselves.

Introduced in February 2009 and also standard on all Civic sedan models, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) monitors individual wheel speed, steering angle and lateral G-force. If it detects oversteering, understeering or traction loss, it can brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine speed to help keep you in constant control.

The system also features a traction control function to help minimise wheel spin during acceleration on slippery road surfaces or when the available grip differs from one side of the vehicle to the other.
